Introduction

The month of January was a paradise for smartphone lovers. With release after release, One phone that quite catches the eye is Realme’s 12 pro that was released in January as well. While it is quite similar to the 11 pro in design. There are significant changed in the internal hardware and back panel as well. We will go through all these in this review. 

Realme 12 pro: Design

With an eye catching design, The realme 12 pro is sure to turn heads when people pass by it. Almost every phone you see nowadays looks pretty much the same but realme has outdid themselves on this phone’s design to make it unique and stylish. The back panel is what makes it special with the main attraction being the camera module. They partnered with French luxury watchmaker Ollivier Savéo to make the design for this phone.

The rear panel of the realme 12 pro hosts a vegan leather finish and camera module that looks very similar to a luxury watch dial. The camera has gold accents on the outside and a sunburst dial inside. The entire design is curved so it feels great to hold it in hand and you don’t have to worry about finger prints or smudges on the back thanks to the leather finish.

The front is curved and features uniform bezels that are quite similar to the 11 pro’s design. Bezels are extremely thin. Other than this, It comes with an  IP65 rating as well.

Realme 12 pro: Camera

As mentioned before, the major feature even in the design is the camera module. Cameras is this phone’s major selling point. Don’t judge a book by it’s cover, you might believe that there are four cameras but the 4th is a dummy. This phone features 3 cameras in the back.

Coming to their individual specs, The back hosts a primary camera of 50-megapixel Sony IMX 882 sensor with OIS, PDAF support, 26mm focal length, and f/1.8 aperture. This is accompanied by 32-megapixel Sony IMX 709 telephoto sensor with 2x optical zoom and 4x lossless in-sensor zoom and lastly, we shouldn’t forget about the ultra wide which is 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor. Overall, the whole setup is a significant upgrade over last year’s dual camera setup.

The camera app seems familiar to what we’re used to when dealing with android phones. All options are placed above the shutter button. There are a significant number of features available hidden under the more option, these include a  the Pro mode, Panorama, Hi-Res mode, Timelapse, Long Exposure, dual-view, Starry Mode, and more.
